I don't know what causes this, try to deactivate the modernizer script in your template.
your template is in cause, it seems a bit special.
I did not find anything in the css that could be the cause...

Video files works fine, but images won't appear.

unfornately, very very very much I want that your slideshow there, but can't figure out where error comes. One day when I or you find that, then absolutely change that. Really like your menu system too, and soon I think that I must buy edit plugin for that

I can't do anything in this situation, what you can do is to contact me and send me a copy of your template and tell me in which position to put the slideshow. i will try to test by my side
