Can't edit slideshow with more than 3 slides

Tried :

post_max_size=256M
post_max_size=512M
post_max_size=1024M
post_max_size=0 (supposed to disable the size limit, if I got it right)

Each time, did the following : save change in php.ini file, stop sql, stop apache, restart apache, restart sql, test again.

No change. Same exact symptom, slideshow editor reverts to the 3 default slides when trying to add slide #4.

In this fluid problem, it seems that size matters more than status. Here's what I did :
• Create 610 menu items : slideshow saves OK
• Unpublish 608 menu items (2 active) : slideshow saves OK
• Throw unpublished items to trash can : slidewshow saves OK
Republish all previously trashed items...
• Add 10 menu items (total : 620 active items) : slideshow does not save, exit editor, back to menu list, test slideshow module locked
• Unpublish the last 10 items (610 active items) : slideshow does not save, exit editor, back to menu list, test slideshow locked

===== Now that's strange, because those are exactly the 610 active menu items that allowed the slideshow to save OK in the first test !!!

I also tried to DELETE slides in the slideshow instead of ADDING : same problem, when pressing Save, editor exits, back to module list. So it may have nothing to do with the slideshow itself but rather with using the Save button.
