Text separator in menus not taking hover effect

Since they are not links, if you use a text separator menu item, it does not take the hover effect shown in the rest of the menu as they are set specifically for links only

seems you need to add:
to the custom CSS box to get it to work. The code you insert has to replicate all the code you have entered for menu items already and needs to be done for all states.

Would there be any chance of adding the <span> element to the menu options, or just include span items in the effects for hover and active.
Text separator menu items are regularly used in joomla menus if, for example you want to use it so you do not have to show all of your services in a category list, but want them individually in a sub-menu of the Text Separator 'Services'

Yes, they take the default menu styling, but not the hover effect:

it is now understood and fixed in the available 3.1.10 version

Working for horizontal menus now, but not for menus created in other module positions (using expert mode)
