Submenu always open

Thank you again for the answer. But I have 2 situations. See enclosed pictures.
When I set layout = 'default' I see the 4 menu items horizontal without submenu's (they came with the mouse over or onclick).
When I set layout = 'nativejoomla' I see the 4 menu's including the submenu's (like I want). But they are under each other (vertical). How can I get them horizontal?

ok, for that you shall use some custom css.
This is a design that is quite never used, or made using multiple menu modules in different template positions

here if you want only one menu to do that, you must align the items using css
