Here it the site:

www.hillwalktours .[com]/hiking-ireland/beara-way-trail-info

MaximenuCK is used to run the floating menu on the right.

Base item is set to current, module caching is off on the site (Though there is cloudflare active I believe). The items don't seem to have the active class when they are in fact the active menu item.

Hi CEd

It's an External URL item. We use these sidemenus on each of the 8 trails when you click on the Trail Info tab for each. The first shows the 'active' css tag when you initially load the page but disappears when you scroll.

www.hillwalktours [dot]com/hiking-ireland/dingle-way-trail-info

The top menu has a mix of external and internal URLs linking to other sites and a booking system. The Sustainable tourism link is within this system, you'll see it has and holds an active state.

Thanks for your assistance.

It's an External URL item

this type of menu item can not receive an active state as it is not supposed to be linked to your website. You must use an alias instead
